How to care for your skin and remove hair during a laser hair removal course?
Special skin care is not required during the procedure course, but there are recommendations that our cosmetologists advise following:
- 2-3 days do not use thick care products (oils, greasy creams), as well as deodorants and antiperspirants. After the laser hair removal procedure, limit aggressive exposure to the treated areas – avoid peelings and scrubs.
- 3 days refrain from visiting the pool, active sports and thermal exposure (sauna, hot bath, hot shower, sauna).
- 10 days avoid active sunbathing after the laser hair removal procedure.
Between laser hair removal sessions, it is recommended to remove hair only with a razor or trimmer, and avoid using any other hair removal methods!
Adhering to the intervals between laser hair removal sessions
With each laser hair removal session, the amount of unwanted hair will decrease, and the intervals between sessions should be extended. The minimum interval between laser hair removal sessions is is 4 weeks un maksimālā – and the maximum is 2 monthsIt is crucial to adhere to these intervals and not interrupt the course. Otherwise, the effectiveness of the laser hair removal may be reduced.
A complete laser hair removal course lasts approximately one year; however, after all sessions are completed, the client can enjoy a long-term reduction in the need for shaving or waxing.
Once a year – or every eighteen months – it is advisable to have a maintenance laser hair removal session to sustain the results. This is standard practice, as the body changes over time, and hormonal fluctuations can stimulate new hair growth.
How to prepare for laser hair removal?
Necessary
- During the procedure, the skin must be clean, free of creams and deodorants, and the hair must be short (shaved the same day or the night before).
Forbidden
- Avoid active sun exposure 10 days before and do not use self-tanning products 14 days before the procedure.
- Do not wax your hair a month before the course begins. You may use a razor or trimmer during the course, the main thing is to preserve the hair root.
- If you are taking photosensitizing medications (e.g. antibiotics, retinoids), be sure to inform your specialist. You should wait 2 weeks after taking antibiotics to safely continue with a laser hair removal course.
Contraindications
It is prohibited to undergo a laser hair removal procedure if you have:
- Oncology
- Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
- Prone to keloid scars
- Uncontrolled diabetes
- Epilepsy
- Autoimmune diseases
- Use of retinoids less than 6 months before the procedure
