Phototherapy procedures
Phototherapy procedure (IPL) is one of the most effective and popular procedures at our center, thanks to the unique Israeli InMode Lumecca device.
The procedure is based on the impact of an intense light source (IPL – Intense Pulsed Light) on all layers of the epidermis. The effect is achieved through wavelength pulses ranging from 580 to 1200 nm.
Phototherapy, by penetrating the upper layer of the epidermis, helps to eliminate signs of photoaging, rosacea, spider veins, pigmentation, post-acne spots, sagging, and both superficial and deep wrinkles.
The procedure is ideally suited for:

FAQ about Phototherapy procedures
IPL Therapy with Venus Versa
- IPL photo-rejuvenation - as a result of the treatment course, age-related skin changes, which most commonly appear after the age of 30, are addressed—such as wrinkle formation, loss of skin firmness, and elasticity. Metabolic processes are activated, skin elasticity increases, skin tone becomes more even, rejuvenation occurs, lifting is achieved, and unhealthy skin coloration is corrected. This procedure excellently revitalizes the facial skin.
- IPL pigmentation treatment - universal procedure that helps address various pigmentation disorders, regardless of size, color, and structure—such as freckles, dyschromia, superficial forms of melasma and chloasma (commonly known as the "pregnancy mask"), post-traumatic hyperpigmentation (e.g., caused by chemical peels during the active sun season), and improves overall skin tone. IPL also effectively treats stagnant pigmentation spots that form on the skin after acne, infiltrates, wounds, and cuts. IPL pigmentation treatment is the most effective method for combating hyperpigmentation of various origins.
- IPL treatment for vascular changes - elimination of blood vessel formations (at various depths and color ranges without damaging or burning the skin) – capillary hemangiomas, rosacea, spider veins, enlarged capillaries, angiodysplasia, reticular varicose veins.
How is the IPL photo rejuvenation procedure performed?
IPL photo rejuvenation procedure is carried out only after a consultation, which will be conducted by a specialist at our center. During this consultation, the specialist will assess the extent of the skin damage and its overall condition.
Additionally, the configuration is individually adjusted for each client, taking into account their specific issues. The procedure is painless and safe for the client.
Before the IPL photo rejuvenation treatment, you will be asked to close your eyes and wear special protective glasses. Then, a contact gel is applied, and the photo rejuvenation procedure is performed, with the duration of exposure ranging from 15 to 20 minutes, depending on the treatment area.
At the end of the photo rejuvenation procedure, a soothing and protective cream is applied, and a consultation is provided regarding the subsequent skin care.
The IPL phototherapy procedure addresses issues such as
- Loss of skin elasticity
- Skin sagging
- Age-related changes on the face, body, hands (ptosis, wrinkles)
- Photoaging, enlarged pores
- Dark spots
- Uneven skin tone
- Spider veins
- Persistent facial erythema (redness)
- Rosacea
- Couperose
Is IPL phototherapy painful?
IPL phototherapy is generally well-tolerated by clients. During the procedure, clients may feel only warmth and possibly a slight tingling sensation. Even those with heightened skin sensitivity need not worry, as the cosmetologist can adjust the settings to better suit individual needs.
Is IPL photo rejuvenation safe?
The IPL photo rejuvenation procedure is absolutely safe for the client when the necessary conditions are met:
- Safety measures (such as eye protection)
- Adherence to contraindications
- Following the general recommendations and treatment schedule provided by the cosmetologist
Equally important is considering the compatibility of the IPL photo rejuvenation procedure with other cosmetic treatments. Phototherapy (IPL) is highly compatible with other laser and machine-based methods.
How to Prepare for IPL Phototherapy?
Special preparation for the phototherapy procedure is not required, although there are several conditions that should be followed before the treatment.
One week before the procedure, discontinue the use of antibiotics and retinoids. Additionally, avoid sun exposure and tanning for 5 days prior to the phototherapy treatment.
Post-Treatment Skincare After Phototherapy Procedures
Despite the fact that phototherapy procedures are not aggressive and do not typically cause pronounced post-procedural side effects, there are several guidelines to follow after the treatment:
- Use a Soothing Cream: Apply a calming cream for one week following the phototherapy procedure.
- Avoid Aggressive Skin Treatments: Refrain from using exfoliants, scrubs, acid-containing cosmetics, and retinoids, both in home care and in the cosmetologist’s office.
- Avoid Heat Exposure: Do not visit saunas, steam rooms, or swimming pools for 5 days after the procedure. Also, avoid any thermal treatments (such as heating) on the treated area.
- Use Sunscreen: Throughout the entire course of treatments, use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 50 to protect your skin.
What to Expect After IPL Phototherapy?
Most individuals achieve optimal results from phototherapy with 3-5 sessions. The typical interval between sessions is 3-6 weeks.
Results are noticeable after the first session. The skin becomes smoother, the number of age spots decreases, and spider veins become less visible.
- Pigmentation Changes: In the first 1-2 days after IPL phototherapy, pigment spots may darken in color. This is normal and indicates that the procedure was effective.
- Vascular Lesions: For vascular lesions, such as spider veins, they may either fade immediately after the procedure or gradually over the following days.
- Temporary Redness: A slight redness may occur after the IPL phototherapy, which usually subsides within a few hours.
